Obama and Education

Reports Sunlen Miller and Mary Bruce from ABC News.

Let me be straight. Information technology sweeps most Congressional rule making under the rug. Education has value and is light weight, and thus will take the most advantage of technology, sooner, faster.

Obama needs to do one simple thing, require that states and localities offer a variety of certificates and specialty completion awards in high school. Standardized by industry and educational groups, where standardization helps individual study. Give the students choice, let the students try out trades, give them certificates, require some minimum of these units. But, lower costs with technology, individual study, smaller, less frequent meetings, standard course work per specialty.

All the babysitting function is completely handled with one simple trick, dinner once a week with parent or guardian. Feed the poor parent and child and give the parent some entertaining parenting tips while there. The weekly meetings then become organizing grounds for intramural sports, special events, clubs, and any other private volunteer parent group needs.
