The bozos at their marketing department came up with some bozo idea. They would issue a gift card to cover the cost of them upgrading your equipment. They wanted the upgrade not me. They had this idea of issuing a gift card, and the customer could use the gift card to pay for ATT equipment upgrades. Pretty damned stupid considering they could just cancel the charge for a few keystrokes.
They have an entire department and information service devoted to sending out and accepting ATT gift cards. The only purpose of whicyh is to cover ATT services! This sounds like one of those sweetheart deals where an ATT exec got his buddy a great business contract for credit cards. Now this little stunt means that when ever ATT issues a gift card to cover their equipment expense of $100, they will spend $200 explaining to rational people why they just cannot cancel the equipment charge. Somebody over at ATT is out of their mind.
