I went into this once, a year ago.
The banker smart card operates under exactly the same protocol, except they are the size of a shoe box and can hold very large quantities of secure digits. And this smart card, sitting in a vault, under armed guard, wants to see the bank manager every hour or so, otherwise it quits trading. The owner of the card, the person whose neck is stretched, has to 'see the board' ;know what the liquidity measurements look like.
Everywhere the smart card, there is the red/green light, it is there for the human, watch it as you tap.
