Kanosians see Trump through the lens of Magic Walrus

Stiglitz and Shiller both, pretty much idiots regarding American history.

We have Trump because the Northeast cannot survive a world of California and Texas domination.  The eighth and tenth largest economies in the world dominating the House with about a third of all delegates.  It is not going to work and New York is rebelling.

Dunno about economists, but my high school history teacher was the best, and he understood regionalism.  The California, Texas issue goes back to the founding of their respective repubics, and the mismatch has only gotten worse.

Just one small anecdote, the New York Times.  It is a dying paper, dying as the economy moved south west.  In  Texas, the paper is not read.  In California, the politicians give instructions to the NY Times.  This stuff goes on all the timer, mainly through the offices of the national parties.  In Texas, the dem party is viewed as a creation of California, the main competitor to Texas.  The more socialist California pushes the Swamp, the more secessionist become Texas.  California ditto, the Texans take over the Swamp and we see a rise in La Raza secessionists.  The common reason? The Swamp is a huge potentially volatile disaster for the economies out here in the SouthWest.
