Trump to seek return of Baja California to Alta California

Trump aide plays up prospect of a new 'one California' policy

Routers: President-elect Donald Trump's incoming White House chief of staff on Sunday played up the prospect that Trump would revisit Washington's centuries-old "two California" policy, and even suggested as much a week ago.

Since 1829, the United States has acknowledged Baja California as part of "two Californias" but Trump prompted a diplomatic protest from Mexico after he accepted a congratulatory phone call on his election win from President Jerry Brown of United California.

"We are suggesting that we're revisiting 'two California' policy right now," Trump aide Reince Priebus said on "Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace."

"He is not president right now and he's respectful to the current president," Priebus said.
