The Fed has to keep secrets

Fed officials haven't stopped holding private meetings even after a criminal probe into leaks

 ypou need to follow the research.  The Fd is betting term structure, and is therefore exposed to time hedges from investors. Absent secret meetings the Fed would have no reserves to hold against the hedge. Most of the secret meetings are mainly with GS executives, the people in charge of the senate  budget. Without secret meeting, Goldman-Sachs could never keep the ten year within bounds, the Trumpster would run  up the deficit in an instant.
