All parties have a point in the dispute. The best outcome is Putin doing a three way deal, essentially reversing the mess Hillary made.
Even Trump was right to exit. He is facing the expense of almost all our military hardware becoming obsolete in the face of drones. And the drones already are on the battlefield in Northern Syria. Turkey still is NATO and NATO is weak because Europe is demographically unstable. Trump is in a fix, or better said, the defense establishment is in a fix, fighting the WW2 battle in the age of drones.
In default mother nature supplies a survival of the fittest, and the militia fighting for Turkey may not be fit to survive against the Kurds with Assad and Iraq help. The best solution is a three way deal that leaves some space for the displaced migrants in Turkey. The Kurds and their back up is extremely potent, Turkish generals and militia leaders need think this through. For Assad, this is the time for diplomacy, preserve his national boundaries and eat a bit of crow. Iran is fouling things up, the Bearded One is a bit delusional.
One things is certain, everyone is retreating back to post Ottoman boundaries. So the tribes need to get a clue on that, new boundaries is not happening and that leaves federations. Tame down the evolutionary process a bit.

Basically kick Turkey out of NATO. Turkey has is own role in the Middle East, they inherited the Ottoman boundaries. Erdogan showed his muscle, now is the time to listen to Putin, see if a three way deal can be had. It is decided, the existing national boundaries remain, some sort of peaceful federation remains.
