Aircraft carriers need the intelligent hook

Sensors and actuators can move a 200 pound hook in the middle of the carrier deck.  

The pilot gets close, if he is not waved off the landing, the hook will grab the jet.  The system can be made perfect with a bit of a beacon on the jet.  Grab it every time. The landing automated. Once the hook grabs, engines are shut, wheel brought to deck, and jet braked braked to its stop, all automatically.  Cut the landing strip by a third.
