Markets in everything

A Colorado farmer accidentally created a sideshow sensation in 1945 when he botched the decapitation of a chicken named Mike. Missing the jugular vein and leaving most of the brain stem intact allowed Mike to survive, despite being headless. The farmer fed Mike a mix of milk and water with an eyedropper through his neck hole (fun!) and took him on the road, making about $4,500 per month at the height of his popularity.
