Can Bruce Bartlett save the Republican Party?

He is trying, and is willing to justifiably criticize lil Bush.  I think he gets the connection between low taxes and strangulating central government.   His problem is that the wealthy, who pushed the government spending have left the barn without paying for the purchase; and took the capital with them.  He has a tough job, and the voters have a hard time distinguishing between the damage caused by Obama and that caused by Bush.

I would vote for the Bartlett wing of the Republican party, I wish he could bring the Tea Party with him.   The proper model is the Bill Clinton/Gingrich model, split government.  Each of the extreme wings of either party is a disaster, but put  together we can force enforce the middle.  It is Depression until November.

Peter Suderman at Reason also gets the problem, and a big HT from Instapundit for posting Peter's article, quoting:

Except that Suderman misses the crucial connection, we cannot get split government until the Bush tax cuts expire. We only get gridlock when its in the interests of the wealthy, then we get economic boom. The tax cuts are set to expire on Dec 31, but the election is Nov. Progressives and Conservatives may band together to save Big Government; and prolong the Depression another two years.

Two idiots: Charlie Crist, Jerry Brown

After weeks of protest and a deluge of messages, Gov. Charlie Crist on Thursday vetoed a bill that would link teacher pay to student test scores and wipe out tenure for new teachers.

“I know in my heart it’s the right thing to do,” Crist said of his veto.

His decision, announced shortly after noon in a Capitol news conference, came as little surprise. Although Crist initially voiced support for the bill, he had distanced himself over the past week as protests mounted. …

“I’m disappointed that after sending his top policy staffer to the House Committee to testify in support of the proposal, Gov. Crist would change his mind and now veto the bill,” House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, R-Delray Beach, said in a statement.

Why would Tea Party supporters want him around? This guy believes in big government, you know he does, though he constantly lies about it.

Dick Army supports federal flat taxes and each time the Republican Communist Party tries the trick, wealthy people grow government with deficits. Even since Abe Lincoln, the American people have been fighting big government Republicans, and we will continue to do so. Reagan and Bush are famous for expanding government and selling it on the cheap, Dick Army is one of the communist bunch; no small government type, none whatsoever. Including him in the Tea Party is a big mistake.
