Joseph Bottum is simply wrong over at USA Today

Where he argues for more spending and debt.
He cites Madison who wants us to responsible adults.  But, raising the debt ceiling is borrowing more money, not borrowing less.  If we have refused to raise the debt limit 8 times, then lets refuse 16 times, let us refuse to raise at twice the rate, and we will get a sensible budget.

What Joseph Bottum is asking is that we borrow money to pay interest.

That is not responsible, that is Weekly Standard style hyperinflation, sheer stupidity.  I expect many Weekly Standard types to come up in the coming days and explain how borrowing to pay interest payments is good.  These writers simply want more spending, or they love the spending we have that they want to maintain it in the face of disaster.

Weekly Standard should show some courage and stop the debt spiral before is gets way out of control.
