Talk about a disconnect!

California's 800 mile high speed rail system will run right through Fresno, and China wants a piece of it.

State Assembly Member Henry T. Perea of Fresno visited China's High Speed Rail System last month and invited their officials to Fresno. He says the Chinese are interested in building the trains, the tracks and possibly a manufacturing and maintenance facility in Fresno.
"Over five billion dollars will be spent here starting next year there's a lot of interest from folks throughout the world that want to be part of the project. "Certainly the Chinese are considered one of the premier builders of High Speed Rail." Perea said.

We have Perea, one of the men who bankrupted California, inviting the Chinese government officials to  town. The Chinese know this is a nutty project with no funding. But why not make an appearance I guess.

Here is Perea telling us that we don't have a pension problem when he was city supervisor:
But Supervisor Henry Perea said officials shouldn't worry too much, pointing to a turnaround in the economy.

After losing about $1 billion in the stock market in recent years, the county's pension plan has recovered about $600 million of those losses, retirement officials said.
This quote comes from a grand jury investigation into how the City screwed up a pension agreement that cost an unexpected billion.

More from the Grand Jury report:
The grand jury laid blame for the pension debt at the feet of supervisors. They failed to say no to union demands for higher benefits, the grand jury said.

About 10 years ago, the county settled a lawsuit brought by employee groups over the way benefits were calculated and the county's failure to make contributions to the plan some years.

Then-Gov. Gray Davis vetoed the settlement amount, but county officials got around that by setting up a supplemental benefit. The result: Fresno County has one of the most generous retirement plans in the state, officials say.

So we have the Pera and Jim Costa thinking they can hoodwink federal taxpayers out of the $20 billion our section of the Choo Choo costs? Remember Jim Costa? Ray LaHood stole almost a billion from federal taxpayers to get him elected with the fake train proposal.

Jerry Brown should be recalled like Gray Davis, Jerry Brown goes along with this nonsense.
