Corruption in the DC Cabby regulation

Don Marron has the story. Corrupt politicians want to favor some cabbys with a medallion licensing scheme.

We have gone over the medallion corruption scam a few times on this blog. Politicians, in this case, Marion Barry, Harry Thomas, Jr., and Michael Brown, want to utilize the cabby business for political sport and bribery.

The real solution?
The solution I have recommended for New York still holds. Rather than a medallion thingy, give the cabbys the electronic GPS-O-Meter. Then use a web page to adjust per mile cab fees to prevent cabi congestion. That solution eliminates the corruption and allows anyone to be a cabi as long as their clients can afford the per mile charge. The solution should cost about $20-40 per cab, it gives the best service and eliminates Marrion Barry and the corruption brigade.

Bern Grush's company sells them, they are cheap, effective, optimum and anti-corruption. Traffic managers can raise the per mile license fee on an hourly basis to optimize cabby service and eliminate corruption.  Marrion Barry can buy his cocaine with his own money.
