Worthless mutipliers

Congressional spending growth vs GDP growth

Federal spending grew by 40% in 2009, and , GDP grew by 10%.  8%  of the GDP growth came from the direct borrowing by Congress, at best the multiplier added 2% growth for a while.  But the cost of funds was about 3% in 2009.  Since the initial stimulus,  Congressional spending and overall GDP have remained basically uncorrelated.  Look at the 2011, Congressional spending up 10%, but no overall growth, a multiplier  about .8.

In other words, the so called depression economics is over, the economy has figured the game out.
