Xwindows 'hello world' on fedora

I solved the "path" problems with locating proper Xorg package, finding header directory and lib directory.  I have a simple Xwindow up and running.

So what?
Nothing, just curious about Xwindows, it is an old model with redundancies everywhere,  but it has the 8 major draw routines that cover almost everything in the lab for quick 2D displays.

XWindows still forms the lower level window functions for the advanced window management systems like KDE and gnome. It should always be in the linux systems so portability is not a problem, managing file paths is the problem.

Red Hat linux has its bad management

Moving stuff around andf making folks sgn up to different services to get software that otherwise was freely available on other linux platforms.

In this case my problem was loading the standard XWindows development library. It would not load, so I look over the web and we have a ton of complaints thared hat X developers cannot get the basic system up and running.  Unless, they sign up for a work station subscription.

Marketing does not kow what they do.

When using Ubuntu I feared thge upgrade, but as forced into it and sure enough they removed the serial mouse giving me an extra days work.  Marketing does this, purposefully make something not work.

But, otherwise it is an improvement over windows.

Here is the Red Hat Solution

However, it would be more efficient for you to add the channel PixelDrift mentioned above. You can use the web interface either through your Satellite Server (or access.redhat.com, see below), if you are using a Satellite server, see Paragraph 4.2.1.4.
If you are using the Customer Portal (and no satellite server) go through the Subscription/systems area of the Customer Portal,
Here are the instructions for adding channels at the Red Hat Portal access.redhat.com using an account with at minimum the Organizational Administrator role assigned

The user solutionb was to get a ifferent linux system

Since last week, I installed CentOS 6.5 and experienced none of these problems as:
yum install xorg-x11-server-devel
works out of the box.

Standard result.  Marketing thinks they have you in some kind of trap, so they waste your time until you pay up. Developers are too smart, they get the scam and move on to the better system.

The millennial frame of mind

My theory is that millennials are now the swing vote, since Obama's election.  Under this assumption what have they decided?

Obamacare taxes were too much, Pelosi lost four of the next five elections after Obamacare taxes started climbing.

Trump came along and cut Obamacare taxes and other taxes. Then interest rates begin climbing and housing went to bear market.  Millennials voted the Dems back in the House.

They are trying to get the balance but are now stuck between high taxes, high interest rates and maybe a  sequester.  I am not sure that have any other choice, they cannot pay the federal interest costs, and will not have a future with the ten year above 3.5%.  Now they are the marginal voice in both the Senate and House.  Boomers are not paying for any of this, they will retire in stampedes to escape the cost.

What is going on with the software, you ask?

I am inventing new grammar attachments, like a neural net join, a Huffman coder joining, and lexical analysis of text.  I have invented the tensor graph, ordered sequences.  The ability to manipulate grammars is causing the join process to become the standard compute technique for bots.

My LazyJ syntax has a few select and substitute key words, but still obeys the following:
LazyJ join LazyJ makes LazyJ.  So that all the bots communicate in LazyJ.

Here at Redneck, our assumption is that others will copy the idea, likely do as good a job as me, and thus, Redneck remains the reference architecture for the singularity.

Egads the market

Nasdaq down almost three percent.

Egads on the budget.  The debt limit is needing a vote early next year.  But rates on the ten year are headed to 3.5% and if the debt limit is breached, almost to 4%.  Housing will crash and we have a downturn.

Egads on the  Millennials.  In spite of all the best advice, they are caught with responsibility for paying 4.5% of their income on federal interest expenses alone.   Most of that boomer debt.

Millennials are stupified, they cannot figure out any way out of this mess that they did not really cause.

Egads for me, still dealing with tax agents.

Anyway, the millennials were lied to, the boomers are running from the tax guy, leaving it to the kids.  Many millennials will be back at mom and dad's, household formation slowed.

I can mention the yield curve slope

The ten minus one year is 40 basis points, one helleva feat for the debt cartel. I cannot last and the ten year will pop another 10 basis points soon.

Nothing to say

Dull moments in the news yield nothing interesting.

I did upgrade to Red Hat linux, IBM convinced me to.

About that election

It was the usual post presidential rebound.  Happened to Obama, Clinton, Trump, Reagan.  Normal in late cycle expansion when folks rebel against high interest charges.

Interest charges have jump for everyone by 1/3 to 1/5 over the last three years.  Hit the housing, means a shorter planning horizon, locks people out.

Municipalities are rolling over extra debt they  acquired six years ago, at unexpectedly higher rates. They are hit with low pension returns, and many have raised taxes.  California is losing a large piece of income tax as capital gains slow down.  High interest charges is what the rebellion in DC  is about, no government discretionary spending anywhere.

Mixed government can be good, is can lead to sequestering and delay the onset of recession.

I have the beta version of join

In the lab.  Production release with the following changes:

Code deleted and table of devices gone, full inheritance of cursor enable. Less code in my version.  Devices needed initialize their own cursors, so I changed the device dll entry point to a single entry for set up and configure of cursors.

I added the new memory device INDEX, because the html scrapper used it. The code was available, I made the code one of the two types of structured memory.  Then the scraper just inherits that type of device and modifies the step and skips.

Devices have a mode identifier to specify if the key is fixed size or variable size. .  Devices can agree teat the key variable differently, join loop remains unchanged.

The shell is now full duplex, delivering an array of linux style arguments and accepting array of the same in return.
The call is"

ExecMyDevice(int * in, int * out, char *  argv[]);

Any subsystem receiving a call, via command can:

int argi=*in;
char * str= argv[argi]; argi++;
int i = atoi(argv[argi]);argi++;
*in = argi;

On return output the opposite:

int arg *out;
out--
argv[argo]=malloc();

*out=argo;

The html deice has become simpler and is a better development model.  Simple create the standard memory methods and intercept the call backs, apply device specific matching, then use the underlying memory methods to direct navigation. In this manner, searching html is the same as searching Websters standard dictionary; both adapted to LazyJ search syntax.

Code eliminated, demoted. Device development simplified.  I have a production version, unreleased.  The Entire staff here at Redneck Inc was hit with tax an plumbing issues, at the same time; and we are undergoing a system upgrade.

Working stuff

I haven't posted the new files yet, but the join system is working as planned.
