Simple, really. The Great Sunbelt migration has created a huge swath of carpet bagging politicians travelling back to DC, from the large states. They invent ludicrous schemes and plots. Voters in these large states have no information, they are one step removed. The legislatures in these states often are in the dark and stuck with whatever junk returns from DC. The Colbert comedy report is no substitute for real democracy.
Jerry Brown knows the problem, as does Rick Perry; but they are in free speech straitjackets and not allowed to tell us the truth. Voters in America simply have to figure out how democracy works, and the key is proportional voting. Voters everywhere should do some long division and determine what their Senate vote really means.
