Washington, Jan 6 - I am opposed to raising the debt ceiling. We have raised it ten times in the past ten years, and each time Congress has failed to get to the heart of the problem: out-of-control federal spending. Instead of being serious about stopping our government’s spending addiction, we continue to rack up massive annual deficits. And during the first two years of the Obama Presidency those deficits have skyrocketed.
For the next two months, instead of simply debating the pros and cons of another debt ceiling increase, Washington needs to be serious about real cuts in spending. It’s time for each Member of Congress to offer a list of real cuts that can be put on the table for discussion and votes.
The difference between today and 1995 regarding the debt ceiling is that we will have this struggle after three Euro counties have gone belly up. We have states at bankruptcy, precisely because of an overbearing central government. The Black Hole is approaching.
Michele should simply take the position that any more debt from Congress will insure California and Illinois bankruptcy and chaos. Make it a local government vs Big Central Government battle. Ask each Tea Party member in the House if they would rather government money be freed up for district use, then stop the debt ceiling. Tell them that whatever they cut, they get back in district earmarks.

Very interesting and educational posting! Definitely my favorite architectural period. I never heard of granito, didn't know marble could be mixed. Great evocative photos, too.
