First thing, you have to have college courses to pass. So they all go to Black Studies, and get a pass on learning anything:

Incredibly, given that most of these athletes were black, the fraud was being run out of what is now called the Department of African, African-American and Diaspora Studies. The two people orchestrating the fake classes were Julius Nyang’oro, the department head, and Deborah Crowder, the longtime department administrator.

Look at Steve Currie and his training regime.   Steve has the muscle knowledge of a PHD, including extensive neuron groqwth in the hippocampus.  Steve has knowledge of the kinetic energy system of the joints, from the toe to the tip of the fingers.  He knows every bone in that chain.

How about upgrading the physical education department, there is a lot of friggen science the athletes could use, enough to keep a bunch of physiology and neurology profs out on  the court coaching four years.  Then you have the statistic of sports; each sport in the world.  These athletes keen basic statistics to know when their jump shot ratio is significantly different.

Then there is no faking.  The players are counting themselves and teammates on the court, they are evaluating the effect of repetition.  Measuring shot accuracy, and defining and learning kinetic sequences for various motions.    Then you get a bunch of black kids who have professional degrees in the art of national championships.
