The guy was rehearsing with a gun, and was expected to do so.. No one was surprised that he was practicing.
The involuntary manslaughter charge goes to the person in charge of live fire. The whole idea of a western is to point the gun at someone and fire. And the question is, why were there live bullets on the set at all?
