Can the Sacramento Bee get a clue?

It’s a crying shame, but Gov. Jerry Brown had no choice but to cave and exempt transit workers from the state’s pension reform law, at least temporarily. The U.S. Department of Labor was poised to cut off billions in federal grants to local transit districts if California did not back off. So the governor has made a necessary strategic retreat.
But he cannot afford to surrender. Brown says he plans to pursue the issue in court. Sacramento Regional Transit is the test case. Because RT complied with state law and applied pension reform to its workers, the federal government withdrew $54 million in federal funding previously approved for work on RT’s light-rail extension to Elk Grove. Some $14 million of that money may be lost permanently because the bill to exempt transit workers from pension reform, which the governor has pledged to sign, won’t reach his desk in time to forestall federal action on part of the grant. Notice that the Sac Bee editorial wants to stop federal interference so they can get federal funding for their useless light rail. Maybe the Bee will figure out that the federal interference comes with federal goodies, and we suffer a 25% discount whenever our taxes take a round trip to DC and back. What happened to state and local government spending

The chart has both. State and local and federal all increased spending as a percent of GDP.  Unless I screwed up this graph, it does not show that spending is the cause of job loss in California or the rest of the states. Why did California lose all those jobs?  Because most of that new money went into pension payments for retirees. Spending is inaccurate because the pension payments were hidden from the bond junkies and voters.

What is the future for California? Fewer public sector employees.  

The evolution of knowledge in a class action global warming lawsuit

How does the system equilibriate as more and more claimants submit additions to the class? Two things are going on. The claimants are all motivated to prove their non-emissions, by accurate measurement. All parties are motivated to get the facts on future damages. Hence the estimate on the consequences of global warming improve. The system settles when all parties agree on the future out to 30 years, the depreciation schedule of a refinery. Co2 levels adjust to match, they drive the match. Simple, cheap, and the industry of co2 management is born, problem solved.

Gains from agglomeration

It comes up everywhere, the idea that groups focus on specialized products, permanently establishing a more dense trading framework. Did we agglomerate toward transportation efficiency after the 70s oil shocks? Kling, looking at a paper by Binder on the 70s oil and food shocks, takes up the issue, why did we eventually gain fuel efficiency and beat the oil shocks?

I think that the answer might be less attempts to regulate prices and profits in the domestic oil market.

He makes a point. The 70s were full of very inefficient energy price controls. Once Reagan removed the price controls, the economy became efficient in responding to oil shortages.

But the how does the economy become more efficient? Energy efficiency became the main selling point in transportation for 30 years. The transportation industry matched technology to energy efficiency, and has been beating oil ever since. The process is agglomeration, the focusing independent sectors of the economy closely to the problem.  Agglomeration effects cause great efficiency when specialized to a task.

We have arrived at the point that a significant portion of the web will extend into transportation, and permanently be devoted to the energy efficiency task.

My global warming solution

File the nuisance suit. Who out there is in a bicycle commuting club? Please, get a lawyer and file a nuisance against Big Oil. You are not a participant, your actions did not produce an expectations of bad weather. All you need to prove is that the likelihood of inclement weather cost you about $500/year, demand damages. Win the suit. What happens? The judge rules the damages valid and orders payment, and this suit becomes a class action. Anyone who can prove they are near pre-industrial co2 emitters can claim damages from fossil fuel drillers and importers. My claim. I claim that as a result, the global brain, this web, will deploy low cost software and hardware than can measure, reliably, a persons co2 emissions throughout the day. There will be an industry devoted to the accurate measurement of co2 emission throughout the economy. The global brain will have all the information needed to bring an equilibrium between expected global warming damages and cost, for the next 50 years. The incentives in the class action suit force this match. Result? We get 50 year look ahead, at all times, as new information from climate and co2 emissions become ever more accurate in the relationship. The problem, overall, will be solved in ten years, the time it takes for the industry to establish.Once the look aead is validated, then everyone knows the long term adjustment they need to make.

But we have to wonder just how bad this outcome is. Who has benefited and who has suffered from the policy decisions in housing and monetary policy over the past few years? According to a remarkable little report from mortgage-backed securities analysts at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, “the cost burdens are disproportionately impacting low-income groups and renters.” (You could probably have guessed that one yourself.)

The report mentions housing stimulus raises rental costs for the poor. The report also mentions first access to money. Fed, in cooperation with Congress, is hammering the middle class. Whodathunkit?

Who doesn't want to secede from the Jim Crow State

Calwatch Hooray for Siskiyou County, whose Board of Supervisors just voted for the county to secede from California! They’re tired of the state regime’s record high taxes and incredible regulations; and the neglect of their needs and wishes. To help them, I’ve crafted a Siskiyou County Declaration of Independence, modelled on the original of the 13 colonies from 1776. Some changes have been made because circumstances are different.

Their declaration is an attack on Jerry Brown, as if he were the tyrant king. The real tyrant is the lack of Senators, we are eight short. In a landscape barren of a fair democracy, we get two worthless one fifth Senators, mere decoration, serving all of 54 Congressional districts! California is an oligarch, populated with horribly ignorant creatures, like Darrel Steinberg, Gavin Newsome and Kamal Harris. To top it off, we have to put up with the racial pandering of Nancy Pelosi.

LA Times Joining with counterparts from five other states and the District of Columbia, state Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris has filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the U.S. Supreme Court implicitly arguing that California’s ban on racial preferences by state universities is unconstitutional.

Yes we know, racial apartheid is the platform of the Undemocratic Party. But who are the minorites Kamala wants to favor? They are not Latinos, who now hold a plurality, in not a majority. Certainly not Anglos since the California Undemocrats have hated Anglos for 30 years. The leaves Africans and Chinese, mostly. with a few splattered here and there. Just to point out that Kamal is both unable to read and unable to count, here is the ruling she favors!

The brief filed by Harris and the other attorneys general sides with supporters of affirmative action in Michigan who persuaded the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals to strike down that state’s ban on racial preferences -- a clone of Proposition 209, which was adopted by California’s voters in 1996. Like Proposition 209, Michigan’s ban was the result of a voter initiative to amend the state constitution. The 6th Circuit said that Michigan’s ban on racial preferences was unconstitutional because it “reorders the political process in Michigan to place special burdens on minority interests.” The court explained that although supporters of preferential admissions policies for athletes or the children of alumni need only lobby school officials, advocates of racial preferences would have to organize a lengthy effort to amend the state constitution.

First, the 6th asserted the rights of minorities to be racist jackasses. But the key word is minority, Kamal, that means counting numbers, remember grammar school? You, being the simple idiot that you are, are advocating that Chinese and Africans have a right to racially suppress Latinos and Anglos.

Kamal argues for the legality of racial supremacy, with Latinos and Anglos at the bottom of the racial caste system. Kamal Harris should be removed from office for stupidity and inability to count and for being an incredibly ignorant lawyer. So here is a slam dunk lawsuit, worth millions for any lawyer. Pick one of the 15 million minority anglos and sue this lunatic for civil rights violation. Take the stupid California government for everything you can get. Make it a class action, we can even get the latinos on board as they become, like anglos, the repressed racial group according this this idiot.

The issue before the board is who has been trashing the economy for 30 years. Nixon, by letting the Fed go inflating? But why, and that is the problem.  Why would the American voter allow this? Clearly the middle class gets hurts worse by inflation.
