post from Krugman. He implies that we should ignore the census peak to the far right. If we ignore that then we are left with a 20% rise in federal employment. I think I am supposed to fall into a trap which he later springs when he shows local and state government employment dropping.

What can I say? How about this, is an agglomeration of workers centered in the Washington DC area a better equilibrium? No, Paul, most of the states and localities are going broke precisely because the resources go to Washington and the mandates go to the states.
