San Jose, CA will, for the second depression in 100 years, have to rip out a useless steel rail system. The goal should be replace the right of way with precast, asphalt, narrow gage BRT track. Make it a digitally controlled asphalt highway with the newer buses. Then San Jose utilizes the right of way with vehicles that share normal roads, the number available passengers miles go up by the square of BRT excursion from the track.
