Short term vs medium term cuts

Boiling it down, our Senate is too dysfunctional to budget short term. In that case, a default is in order.

A follow-up question finds Americans more sympathetic to the Republicans' argument than Obama's. We have two factions angling to get their goodies. But the public is on to the scam.
