Here is a real stickler

Baja California and Alta California have the same founding, they should be re-united.  Both Mexican and Federal rule has been an invalid interloper.

The  original Mexico did not include Baja, that also was founded by Junipero and partners.  And that founding was later, a 100 years later, and under direct control of the Catholic church.

If Mexico has a natural North, it is Texas, not California.
