Central Valley residents leaped onto Twitter early Wednesday after they were rattled by a series of earthquakes centered near the Nevada border.
Two shocks measuring 5.7 were centered about 17 miles southwest of Hawthorne, Nevada. They occurred at 12:18 a.m. and 12:22 a.m. Another temblor about 16 miles southwest of Hawthorne measured 5.5 and happened at 1:13 a.m.
