Felix, here is the solution to OpenTable

Let us guess at a system of on line  reservation that restaurants might like, simple, one that allows on line registration for a very small fee to the restaurant owner, and no other fees. How would I make that happen? On this blog, as we speak.

First the protocol. Any restaurant can leave a web widget on any screen that allows any user to reserve a spot with that restauranter. This web widget will support a user form that identifies a return e mail for confirmation and the restaurant identity. Defining this protocol is as simple as defining a few records in a data base.

Let us call this standard widget FoodBot for Food with a Better Open Table. The restaurant need only associate their web identity with FoodBot. amd customers will get FoodBot widgets when they search for a good restaurant.

Felix, your job is to form the association of restaurants supporting FoodBOT, and the software developers who read my blog will do the rest.  Restaurants can sign up for free at the developer web site, they get FoodBOT widgets for free.  The developers sell other web tools to advertise and group source dining customers, but no more rents in the model.  The existence of the restaurant association will force the search engines to produce FoodBOTs when customers search for restaurants.  Simple really.
