Groupon, a protocol definition away from extinction

There entire value added consists of displaying coupons with HTML. Otherwise they have nothing that any of a million software developers could duplicate. They have the same problem Netflix has, movies are too easy to distribute, not too hard. Ultimately studios will pay the few thousand to have their own Internet servers.

The same will happen to Groupon, retailers agreeing on a discount protocol, and the Internet search engines become trained to find great coupon deals, no need for Groupon.
