The press and clipper ships

The two were observer and observed.  They merged when they appeared.  The clipper ships brought newsprint fast, and the news print celebrated the fastest arrival of clippers. So clippers and trading in the weekly news became big time during the era. Then came steam ships and overseas cable, all at once. So each time we move larger quants, less often with greater accuracy, and you can see how the universe would have to have that one last look!
