The old Freud thing about jokes. The idea is to tell a story and the surprise makes the listener the antigonist. Thus the rage the lisener builds during the run up, turns against himself. Like plumber jokes, designed to make the plumbers laugh.

This blog implicitly makes fun of Redfnecks, turning them into country bumpkins. I am pre-laughing, because I know there are the bonehead Rednecks, deranged out here, especially the castrated white male. I want to deflect the rage ahead of time, before the horror stories.
Matt Levine does comedy at Money Stuff. He points at the absurdity in finance that happens, but he is pre-laughing. He wants defense for that moment when finance really fouls up. He has 'Told you so' insurance.
