The argument against reparations

What was horrible about racists indentured servitude?

The South did it for 75 years. In Brazil and the Caribbean it lasted for a generation then broke down, we got Jamaica and equal citizenship early.
The first generation of colonialists usually included indentured servitude, a generational labor contract.
And, African-Americanism is unique and a creation of some 150 years of freedom. How else would it have been created? African-Americanism has not lost all its connection with Africa, but as a human endeavor for 150 years, it lasts, and outlasts much of the original Africanism which is under pressure today.
There have been much worse human tragedies.  Plantation agricultural in antebellum times was a hardship for labor, it was the nature of the industry at the time. Most blacks, like most whites, trace their ancestry back to hardscrabble farming, the post war period before the next industrial revolution.
