Iranian kids with their low cost UAVs have been blowing up Patriot systems for some time. The Russian systems are subject to the same problem.
What all the armies are looking for is autonomous air to air combat UAVs, an they are getting them at a rapid clip.
The nature of war has changed. If you are an army like the US army then most of your effort is built around protecting legacy systems to cover huge development costs. The best protection for Patriots, F22s and carriers is to park them in the US an keep them there. Without these legacy system the chances of winning in battle go up, not down.
