Clicking on text works just fine

Hi, robot: Why robotics and language need each other

And the damn things are getting pretty smart by just watching us click.

I didn't read the article as I had no agreement on what 'understanding' meant in the context. There is a heck of a lot of information when you combine screen and clicks.

Consider household chores, there is not that many that we humans tack, ten to twenty, maybe.  It is much easier to list them on our smartphone then have us list them verbally.  The click on ext is much faster, more convenient and we don't look stupid. Plus we have isolated the language, we do not have robots changing language culture, and we are free to talk to our family without confusing some machine.
