They are not intimidated by Trump but intimidated by the level of comprehension remaining in small states. Bernie is asking the small state voters to get interested in Bernie's vision of micromanagement in the Swamp. It is not worth the effort in the small states, they have better things to worry.
Small state voters find it better to just reject most of the Swamp, easier to do , no transaction costs. We get the same attitude in the inner city, it is just one pain in the ass to manage the Bernies and Rubios and Cottons. Everywhere voters attention is turning to immediate local government.
It is a rebellion in process and neither party has the tools to deal with it. A rebellion against the Gdotists in the Swamp. A rejection of the 'This time is different' scam promulgated by MIT and Princeton after the 1971 default. Voters simply expecting more scams from the Swamp.
