Want to patent water?

The subject: patent reform.

Rarely has the Patent and Trademark Office elicited such passions. But included in the bill is a long-debated feature that would change the federal patent system to a “first to file” protocol of determining patent priority — one used by nearly all of the rest of the world — from its current “first to invent” system.

The Senate is reinforcing the same old bullshit on patents. My Senator, Feinstein caught the bullshit and attempted to stop it, but the big wigs from the software industry want to use the patent system to shut down the open software industry. Dianne is a lot smarter than my other senator, Babs.

So, if no one has patented the rock, then go ahead, be the first to file. I have been following these nonsense patents for quite some time, and the skewed Senate just confirms my suspicion that we need a deep political restructuring. If the Tea Party had any brains they would catch this. Ms Bachman, this is more important than your support of socialist marriages.

Citizens: Let me explain what this means. Some idiot at Apple patents a commonly used protocol, then for ten years we have to listen to Steve Jobs dwell in his delusion of grandeur. Do you want that crap or would you rather we have the open software system of Android?
