A better way to send men to the moon

Send in the bots first, to construct the moon base.  Bots could take material flights from earth, and deploy the equipment around a base. Bots could do good ground cover work, haul and deploy prefab buildings, and most importantly, connect up ready to go return to earth rockets.  Everything tested and under earth control before even the first humans arrive.  Then, the human ship can carry 12-20 people to the moon knowing that a complete and tested moon base awaits.  For lightweight robots, the moon is a short trip; no life support, no issue with return to earth, and low gravity. All they need is sun.   We could have a robot race among the humans, who can deploy the best robots on the moon.
