A method, apparatus and program product are provided for identifying common interests between users of a communication network. A program of instruction monitors activity over a communication network by users and identifies interests for users based on network activity. The program of instruction creates semantic networks based on use of the communication network and identifies other users with common interests from the semantic networks. Optionally, social networks may be created or modified by adding other users with common interests as identified by semantic networks. USPTOPeter Pachal spotted this on, good eye. Hmm... this is a 2008 patent. Well, Footbook can battle Giggle on this (Giggle acquired the patnet from IBM).
Venture capital starting to move:
Using measurements of behaviour, complex ranking algorithms and semantic analysis of content, San Francisco-based Klout measures the influence of individuals and the prevalence of topics around the web. Since its launch in 2008, the firm has gathered more than 4,000 API partners – companies such as TweetUp, CoTweet, Live Intent, Hootsuite, BzzAgent, Trendrr and Viralheat – and indexed over 100 million public profiles.
Hey Steve Balmer, come join the Imagisoft consortium, you can't lose. BSON web bots, cruising the ontology net, can't beat it.
Let's talk about this patent for a moment.
First, social media seems to be a requirement, let's define that a making the schema center around the personal life of someone who controls the content. But it certainly has to exclude the semantic search of historical biography, we have be3en doing ontologies fo biographies for years and years.
The other thing about the patent, what happened to the common practice, for years, of taking personally written information and creating ontogy descriptions? It seems to me this patent has to be limited to the specific practice of linking Footbook style pages. Kind ot narrow?
Now the second thing we note is that the client can clik his schame display to unsearchable, this would bve a valuable feature as in:
Click the icon on the left corner and take away Larry Paige and his penny collection machine.
Clients will click the box, they can find their own friends, thanks you; and they are not interested in a ton of LinkedIn spam (I still get it).
This researcher has become an honorary member of the Imagisoft semantic coalition:
In this work we propose a method and algorithm for identifying the pathways for meaning circulation within a text. This is done by visualizing normalized textual data as a graph and deriving the key metrics for the concepts and for the text as a whole using network analysis. The resulting data and graph representation are then used to detect the key concepts, which function as junctions for meaning circulation within a text, contextual clusters comprised of word communities (themes), as well as the most often used pathways for meaning circulation. We then discuss several practical applications of our method ranging from automatic recovery of hidden agendas within a text and intertextual navigation graph-interfaces, to enhancing reading and writing, quick text summarization Some Lab Somewhere
