Compelled to write software

I have my linux machine, my world linux standard. I want to write software, but the urge is a psychological thing, a leftover from Silicon Valley, a worker disability. Geekdom, avoid it at all costs. I am out of the industry, have not the economy of scale, and it is only a hobby. The less I do the better.
