A federal government system that rewards the four large states for having economies of scale is killing the small states economically. It is their Senate that now decides the budget. Entitlements will be cut in favor of discretionary spending.
It has reached that point is disunion. These states can only survive if the large states leave the union, or break up.
The educated leave the states for lack of opportunity. Yet, Californians have made careers in public sectors. New York owns the federal debt system, Florida attracting more than its share of retirees from smaller states. Small states are doomed under the current state imbalance, they should abandon the party system, temporarily, and use the Senate for their own survival, forcing the large states to adapt.
