Let's compare New York, Texas, and California

Here we have their leading indices, as determined by the St louis Fed; along with the unemployment rates. Since the crash, Texas has beat the other two hegemon states. Beat them on leading index and unemployment.

Yglesias sends us to a site where the median wage is plotted in a scatter plot, without weighting for state size. But the linked article pointed me to a great site fo state related data, Governing dot com.
So, this is my addition to the debate about who does better, and the conclusion is clear; Sacramento is an enormous black hole, a wart on the butt of America.
