'I am really, totally committed to bringing back manufacturing'
Hillary Clinton has learned the lessons of her Michigan meltdown. Maybe. Standing in a loading dock in the Mahoning Valley on Saturday night, she vowed to bring back manufacturing jobs and helps small businesses. Surrounded by the working-class voters who sided with rival Bernie Sanders last week in Michigan, Clinton appealed to the blue-collar Democrats who supported her husband but have been wary of her.
It is not that she recognizes manufacturing now, a week after losing Michigan. The problem is that none of her advisers had been following the decade of debate on manufacturing vs services industry. Had they been following the debate, they would have already woven some knowledge of that debate into her campaign by now.
I am someone who tracks the various debates. I watch the dynamics of the debate.. Her advisers are stuck on the statics, they think there is some progressive static policy. At lot of this stuff has not even been sorted out by the progressive brains.
