It’s a hell of a tax to pay just for the privilege of being able to say that we allow health care providers to charge anything they want without government interference.
Two estimates:
Despite the slower growth, the federal government's share of health care spending remained at 28 percent.
Tax-funded health expenditures totaled $1.877 trillion in 2013 and are projected to increase to $3.642 trillion in 2024. The US government’s share of overall health spending was 64.3%

Government directly pays for a third and likely indirectly pays for another third. Is it greedy insurance companies or government purchases? Local and state government spend the most, they cover over a third.
It is the dominant buyer, pretty obvious.
