Did they offend Mexicans?

Sensitivity Training for college kids: Meanwhile, two members of Bowdoin College’s student government faced impeachment for . . . attending a tequila party where some guests wore (gasp) tiny sombreros.
The school launched an instant investigation into this “act of ethnic stereotyping,” put partygoers on “social probation” and expelled the hosts from their dorms.
Well, how about the Frito Bandito!

My favorite Mexican food diner has some great Mexican cowboy art.  I think it includes the occasional sombrero.  But, here is the insult.  That restaurant is serving California hot plate, tacos and enchiladas, invented here in California.   Mexicans  call it California food.
