My hometown paper goes there

MAREK WARSZAWSKI

‘What were you thinking when you sent Devin Nunes to Congress?’ Out-of-towners want to know

Devin milks fake cows in a district just north of Fresno.

What kind of voter sent that freak to Congress?
I could ask Burbank the same question about Schiff.
Or my home town's version,   Jim Costa of Choo Choo fame.

The answer is simple, we have more government structure than our social persona can devote energy on.  Voters vote their basics.  Politicians play this trick of bombarding us with more government than we have time for, it gives the corruption a leg up, and it is a very dangerous thing to do.

We do not mind waiting in line for the mayor, governor, representative.  But then politicians add in county boards, independent agencies, and layer on two large government centers, Sacramento and the Swamp.  It is not worth the waiting in line to deal with all the extra overlapping crap. So we let it rot and we get the Nunes, Scciffs, and Kamala's.   Even the senate out here is a waste of time and we just appoint the next skirt from the secretarial pool and be done with it.

It is like a user interface on a computer. We devote the appropriate amount of mental liquidity, and no more. But we get bloat anyway.  Politic is in large states become irrational because of bloat.  Small states have too little bloat in government. We get bloat mismatch and we cycle politically.
