The economy has already overheated

Overheating is a question posed by Jim Hamilton.

The red and black lines seem to be pointing to an near term, but mild 2001 style recession. But the 2001 recession got revised away. 

It is an iffy prediction, we may hit a one quarter recession, then recover and miss the technical blue bar.
