The fine structure again is instrument noise

 The idea is to look at hydrogen at is lowest level, measure the lowest uncertainty it supports, the minimal noise.

The scientist is basically tryiong to et another stab at Avogadro, ns we know at maximum disorder, there are 108 combinations of vaules that self measure.. The proton can swap orbitals and sttay within maximum entropy So we get proton weight as 17 * 108. The total number of paths availabler t the proton, they multiply.

A standard microscope is a flat earth assumption 3 axes instrument, and assume a maximum disorder ot 27, 3^3. Sorry, but this is removed from the proton, and adds to the aperture, and the 108+27 is 135.

The microscope and proton together will exceed the maximum disorder, and the proton adapt down to accommodate the scope.  What the scientist sees is the collapse of disorder. He expected to see all 108 combinations, instead ends up with about 102, plus he sees that appended to his 27 disorder.
