We deal with hierarchical symbol table with dot:

Either side of the dot becomes packed chars, and is limited to eight chars.  I can see the dot, folks can dot their plain text, LazyJ has the dot, Go got dot. We burp on name too long, users have to be explicit, no lazy name splitting..
