The memo evidently suggested that Iran and Syria and Iraq might dominate the region. 

At this point, a Shia  Iraq, an Iran and Syria are all better then Sunni Islamics, and offer me protection. Israelis may not like it, but I am not Israeli, I am Californian. Oil ministers in the Trump cabinet may not like it, but I don't buy that much oil.

Here is a better solution.  As long as Israel is free to bomb the crap out of Iran, that is between those two countries.  I trust Israel to leave Iran with enough firepower to keep the Saudis off my back.
