Facebook ’s Libra currency won’t be dollar denominated, but it will be dollar dominated, with the U.S. dollar and U.S. regulators set to play a big role in the digital currency.Cannot pre-announce a fixed basket, the basket is market determined. If Facebook goes forward along these lines then it should just offer a currency exchange. If Facebook is not creating digital bearer assets, then a trip to the ledger is required. Take the shortest path and make the ledger a currency exchange.
The U.S. dollar will make up 50% of the basket of assets that backs Libra, according to a Der Spiegel report of a letter Facebook (ticker: FB) sent to a German legislator.
The remainder of the basket will be made up of the British pound at 11%, the euro at 18%, the yen at 14%, and the Singapore dollar at 7%, according to the report.
