A Grand Unified Theory of EverythingThe paper’s central notion begins with the claim is that there is a physical principle, called “causal entropic forces,” that drives a physical system toward a state that maximizes its options for future change. For example, a particle inside a rectangular box will move to the center rather than to the side, because once it is at the center it has the option of moving in any direction. Moreover, argues the paper, physical systems governed by causal entropic forces exhibit intelligent behavior. Therefore, the principle of causal entropic forces will be a valuable, indeed revolutionary, tool in developing A.I. systems.
The inventors have a start up company to capitalize on the idea. They call themselves Entropica, what a great name. The New Yorker authors are none believers because they notice too many stochastic algebras in the world where energy seems probabilistic on a small scale.
What Entropic start up discovered was that stochastic algebras appear between Shannon algebras, the potential energy barriers. That idea is not new, as my readers have noticed over the years. On the web the search engines need to organize data along their Shannon points, as linguists are learning to do. Geneticists are starting this as well I have noticed. Its the next big thing.
