Road taxes

Illinois might start charging $1,000 per year to own an electric vehicle: 'It's outrageous'

States normally collect road taxes at the pump. Gas tax is not a bad tax, road damage should be proportional to gas used.

But electric is Green! Not yet, we got ten years to wait on that. So, since road taxes are now inefficient, the electric is currently less green than we had thought.  The solution for electric is to classify the connected car, asnd deliver the smart card that can keep contracts.  Then the owner can sign up, and obey, the mileage tax, as well as speed along with the other connected cars.

The smart card concept is everywhere in transportation, from safety to congestion pricing to authorized convoy mode. This idea of giving everyone a personal counterfeit proof, device that holds its own secret keys, does wonders, best idea ever invented. Agreeing to a contract when both parties automatically self monitor? And do it with a tiny plastic thing they use or payments and authorization?  This is like a huge giant step forward, more important than TOE itself. It is like giving everyone a personal moral compass, a compass with innate capability of finding true north for its owner. The owner is run time connected to her current balance sheet, every purchased balanced in the accounting tree. Dream come true, and we can so this in architectures I talked about long ago, use the spreadsheet metaphor in the card, that is the easiest contract to enforce and the best way to manage total risk.
